- Journal: What are your plans for the summer?
- This morning we practiced for the Great American Award Assembly.
- Then we all played the same game with the same standard on studyisland.com to see who could get the high score.
- During math we did the problems from the first chapter in the book, Sideways Arithmetic at Wayside School.
- This afternoon we created a birthday page and read a couple more chapters in Flying Solo.
- Great American Award Assembly - There were so many students who earned at least one or two stars, and several who earned more. Thank you students, for the hard work. And thanks to parents for all their support.
- Art project, while we watched Babe.

Reading - We read the first two chapters of Flying Solo.
Great American Award - Students were given some time to work on the requirements for the Great American Award. It has been brought to my attention that the Gettysburg Address that I have linked on my blog is not that same as the version in our textbook. When I can get on the blog I will remedy that. Students have until May 20th to pass off requirements for the Great American Award.
Math - Base 5: Write the numbers of the base 5 number system up to 1,000 and the equivalent number in the base 10 system.

By the way, May 23, the fifth grade will have a program and awards assembly surrounding the Great American Award at 2:00 that afternoon. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend.

- Journal: Were you able to figure out the Constitution worksheet yesterday? How did it go?
- English - Cumulative test on Units 1, 2, and 3. The tests were given back to students today, so the test should be in each student's backpack. Students can correct any errors and turn them in again for full credit.
- Spelling - Practiced spelling words with a partner. Pre-test tomorrow, final test Friday.
- Math - Roman Numerals: Roman Numerals Worksheet - Students can choose to color the coloring page that is on the back of the worksheet for extra credit, if they'd like to.
- Science core test - we're finished with core testing, yeah!!!

- Journal: Were there hard questions on the math core test? What was easy? What was hard?
- English - review of Unit 3. Tomorrow there will be a cumulative test on Units 1, 2, and 3. The practice tests in the book are worth studying (hint, hint).
- Spelling - Words with three syllables. New list is on the page today. Sorry it wasn't there yesterday, we didn't get to spelling as a class yesterday.
- Reading - "Nunavut" a story about sled dogs, and "The Golden Lion Tamarin Comes Home" a short story about tamarins in the rain forest of Brazil.
- Science Core Test - Our class with take the second part of the science test tomorrow at 11:00.
- Math - Roman Numerals: Write the Roman numerals for 1 to 39 in order.

- Journal: What did you think of yesterday's "Let's Build Boxes" math activity? Was it fun, or a waste of time?
- Pop's Party Rehearsal - Tomorrow the kindergarten is presenting a pop's party program while our class is taking an end-of-year math test, so we sat in on the rehearsal today. They were great!
- English - Irregular Verbs - We completed the assignment without paper, as a class. No English homework today.
- Spelling - Students practiced spelling this week's words with a partner. Tomorrow is the pre-test. Friday is the final test.
- Math - Area assignment on grid paper. Students need to cut, paste, and find the area of twenty shapes, then show the formula or explain how they found the area. For more help on the math assignment see the pages below.
