- Core Test - The first thing we did this morning was take a Language Arts core test. Students take the second Language Arts test tomorrow at 10:00.
- Math - Turned in Solids Worksheet - Today we began a project called Candies-R-Us (to teach students about surface area and volume) the assignment is still confusing to some students, so we will revisit the topic tomorrow - no math homework today
- Journals - red journals were due today: every student is expected to write a journal entry for each school day
- Spelling - Students received a new spelling list today. The test will be Friday students need to cut out one set of spelling words to use here at school and take one set home.
- Reading - I read with students Punished while other students read silently on their own. Appropriate participation is part of their independent work grade.
- English - We are reviewing topics from Unit 6 - Today’s topic was Subject Pronouns: homework is worksheet 6.1 Subject Pronouns (due tomorrow)
- Social Studies - We discussed differences between the North and South in the mid-1800s - and made a list of differences in our notebooks.

- Spelling - students were expected to sort the spelling words, write the rule, and write eight sentences with two spelling words in each sentence (the green spelling group was asked only to illustrate each of their words). Almost all students finished the assignment in class.
- Area - Students were asked to draw 10 different sized hexagons, then find the perimeter and area of each. Many students turned the assignment in today. If they didn't finish in class today it is homework and is due tomorrow.

Figg have had a few added to their group and are now reading From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. The other students read with a partner and then read on their own. Staying on task during reading each day is part of their Independent Work grade.
