Supply List

Dear Parents of Mrs. Yorgason's 2012-2013 Fifth Grade Class,

The other fifth grade teachers and I create a supply list for the whole fifth grade, but I would like to add a few notes to some of the supplies.  All items are a donation and not a requirement for school entrance.  Additionally, students misusing supplies (donated or not)  may have those supplies taken away.

  • 2 boxes of tissues
  • 2 containers of disinfecting wipes
  • 1 box of crayons (24 count only) If a student has more than 24 crayons in their desk it makes organizing materials very difficult.
  • 1 box of colored pencils (12 count only) Students don't need both colored pencils and crayons.  1 box of crayons will suffice.  If your child prefers colored pencils (which is fine) please send a pencil sharpener as well.  Colored pencils can be troublesome for the school pencil sharpeners.  There are twistable colored pencils that don't need to be sharpened and can be erased.  They work really well, but cost a little more.
  • 5 #2 pencils to begin and 20 for classroom supply (if mechanical pencils, must supply your own lead) I know that seems like a lot of pencils, but a fifth grade classroom can go through pencils very quickly.  If your child loves to have a very sharp pencil, mechanical pencils might be the way to go.  I will try to have a supply of 0.7 mm lead for refills.  (If you would like to donate lead refills, they would be very appreciated).  Students with mechanical pencils may need erasers on the side.
  • Box of pencil erasers (some will be put in classroom supply) Students with mechanical pencils may need erasers on the side instead of pencil erasers - depending on the style of mechanical pencil.
  • 1 pkg. of blue/black pens and 1 pkg. of red pens Or a single pen with many colors.
  • 1 small pair of scissors I have several pairs of scissors in the classroom.  Your child is welcome to share the scissors in my classroom supply.
  • 2 glue sticks I have some bottles of glue in the classroom.  Some students prefer glue sticks.
  • 2 notebooks (wide rule preferred)
  • 2 composition notebooks (wide rule preferred)
  • 1 pkg of at least 4 dry erase markers (fine point
  • 1 sock or washcloth sized piece of fabric This item is used to erase the dry erase board.
  • 1 bottle of hand sanitizer
We fifth grade teachers will display a giving tree for other classroom and science supplies at back to school night.  I appreciate any donation you can make to the class supply list.

School begins August 23, 2012
Back to School Night is August 29, 2012
