Monday - 3/5/2012

  • Math - turned in Lesson 92 - today's topic was Comparative Bar Graphs- homework is: Lesson 93 (due tomorrow)
  • Science with Mrs. Nelson
  • Journals - red journals were due today: every student is expected to write a journal entry for each school day.
  • Spelling - students were given a new spelling list today they were expected to sort the list with teacher guidance, and cut out the spelling words.  
  • Reading - Students reading The Mostly True Advnentures of Homer P. Figg, read with me today.  All other students read a short story, summarized it, and then read a book of their own choice, and left tracks of their thinking - due today. This assignment is part of their Independent Work grade.
  • English - Turn in English page 196  Today's topic was Titles - English page 198 (1-25) due tomorrow.
  • We spent some time talking about the Wax Museum which is Wednesday, March 7, 1:30-3:00 during the school day and from 5:30-6:30 that evening, for those who can attend then.  Please don't let this feel stressful.  Students should be thinking of items around home that could be used for their costume.  If necessary, a sign stating the person's name will suffice. 
  • Social Studies - Notes on the Legislative Branch.
  • P.E. with Mrs. Lyman
Our class met our goal for the Dr. Seuss reading minutes. Way to go fifth grade readers! Tomorrow afternoon is the awards assembly and introduction of the Inspirations contest.
